How to prepare yourself?
Be certain that you clearly express your expectation with the doctor. Check
with the doctor if you have any allergies, smoke or have any dental or gum
problems. Stop taking any medications including aspirin and similar drug.
The surgery
Usually, face implant surgery is performed under local anesthesia with
sedation or under general anesthesia, Cheek implant surgery usually take

cosmetic procedure, such as a face lift or eyelid surgery, the implants
maybe inserted through the incisions made for those procedures. Otherwise,
an incision will be made either inside your upper lip or your lower eyelid.

Insertion of jaw implant usually takes about one to two hours. Incision are
made inside the mouth on either side of the lower lip. The doctor creates a
pocket into which the lower-jaw implant can be inserted. Then, the incision
are closed with dissolving stitches.
Insertion of a chin implant may take anywhere from about 30 minutes to an
hour. During the procedure the doctor select the proper size and shape
implant and insert it into a pocket directly over the front of the jawbone.
The small incision is made and insert the implant inside the mouth (along
the lower lip) or in the skin just under the chin area.
Usually, the chin is taped after surgery to minimize swelling and
discomfort. Sutures in the skin will be removed in five to seven days.
Dissolvable stitches are used if the incision is in the mouth.
Post Operation
You will have some discomfort and swelling for a few days after your implant
surgery. Your activities and diet will be restricted. Your ability to move
your mouth, smile, talk, maybe limited for several days to weeks. Stitches
used to close the incision inside your mouth usually dissolve with about 10
days.
