When or why does a woman undergo Mammoplasty?
- To enhance the body contour for a woman and/or to balance a difference in breast size , as a reconstructive technique following breast surgery.
How to prepare yourself.
- You should not smoking, drinking and taking any medications (including homeopathic / herbal) and vitamins (2 weeks before pre-operative and post-operative is usually recommended.)
The Surgery
- The implant is placed either under or over the pectoral (chest) muscle. A breast implant is a silicone shell filled with either silicone gel or salt-water (saline). Mammoplasty can be performed with a general anesthesia. The method of inserting and positioning you implant will depend on your anatomy and your surgeon's recommendation. The incision can be made either in the case where the breast meets the chest, around the areola, or in the armpit (most common incision). - Mammoplasty usually takes one to two hours to complete.
Post operation care!!!
- The patient will stay in the hospital 1-2 days. Then one week after
operation, you should come to check up with surgeon so he can teach you how
to massage your breasts as necessary.
